Airbus, Ottobrunn

Munich as a research and technology location enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide in the field of aerospace. This is not least due to the skilful networking of local global players with university institutions. Especially on the Ludwig-Bölkow Campus at the tradition-steeped Airbus site in Ottobrunn/Taufkirchen, scientific institutions, start-ups and renowned industrial companies today help to ensure that research results are systematically translated into market-ready products.

The dynamic development of the resident companies and institutions is also reflected in the use of the buildings and infrastructure by the approximately 5,000 employees. It was a special challenge to establish a timeless and adaptable guidance and orientation system in an environment characterized by permanent change.

Each individual campus partner should be able to present itself appropriately under the roof of the Ludwig-Bölkow Campus without losing the authenticity of the Airbus location. In cooperation with LBC and Airbus, Lacon Marketing GmbH from Friedrichshafen developed the concept for a functional and visually appealing guidance system. The timelessly discreet design of the selected signage system quintessenz, the user-friendly handling even with frequent labeling changes and last but not least the regional presence through a powerful service partner on site were the deciding factors. Together with the team of the Rebel Schrift + Dekor GmbH from Munich, a punctual and high-quality project implementation was achieved.

The homogeneous design and graphic signage of the outdoor area is continued inside the building. Due to the possibilities of the extensive quintessenz system components it was also possible to take into account special dimensional requirements in existing buildings. The future-proof signage system thus offers those responsible for the facility management a solid basis for a functioning wayfinding system even in case of frequent user changes.
